Breaking
Ground
Maness Vineyards Estate broke ground
planting very rare grapevines known as Criolla Chica.
These vines also known as Mission Vines were the first grapevines
planted in California by Spanish Padres in 1769. They were grown
to make a sacramental rose wine and the infamous Angelica Port.
In the future we will make a pale rose and an Angelica Port from
these grapes.
These vines are available at $12 each.

Going
Green
Our eco-green growing room now accommodates
nearly 6000 newly rooted grapevine plants on our triple-decker
grow shelves designed by Vineyard Manager John Keily and consultant
John Law. Numerous varietals on hand are currently in their dormant
growth cycle developing roots. Soon new vine buds will open into
growing green vines. Our unique fast rooting process helps to
preserve low consumer costs, only five to twelve dollars each
and they are easy to transport since we do not use big pots and
potting soils. Vines can be purchased at the Maness Vineyard Estate
in Jamul or at our booth at various Farmers Markets around San
Diego County.

60 gallon oak barrels. Tingere is a registered trademark of

Adopt
a Vine
This is our second year of a program we call
Adopt a Vine which allows individuals the unique ability
to become a part time investor/partner of the vineyard. Wine club
members will receive six bottles of wine in their name for every
dozen vines adopted yearly; the cost, only $249. per year. Free
vineyard tours and privileges are given on a year round basis
to member family and friends. The rows of adopted vines are clearly
marked with your family or business name on a placard. This is
a great way to guarantee that you will be able to enjoy our delicious
wine and partner up with estate proprietors, Greg and Paula Maness.

Tuscany
Vineyard BBQ
The Tuscany Vineyard BBQ Experience is now
available from Maness Vineyards Estate. We bundle grapevine cuttings
with rosemary wood to create a new cooking flavor sensation. Heres
how it works; soak the bundle in water for fifteen minutes, wrap
in foil and perforate, then simply set it on the grill. The grapevine
and rosemary slowly smokes your grilled foods to perfection, and
its only $7 per bundle.

Maness
Is Going Solar
Maness Vineyards Estate is going even greener
this spring with its organic lifestyle approach, installing solar
electrical power to the winery and vineyard estate. This new highly
efficient system will drastically reduce the carbon footprint
around the property.
|
Organic
Sand Filtration
Organic sand filtration is now being used at
the vineyard estate swimming pool and we removed the diatomaceous
earth filtration system that was harmful to the environment. Well
water is used in the pool and later this summer we will add solar
water heating elements to keep the pool warmer during the winter
months (Pictured-Vineyard Manager
John Keily with new pool Sand Filtration system)

Please
Help Support our
Rescue Animals
All of the animals and birds wondering about
Maness Vineyards Estate and Casi Cielo Farm are special rescue
animals. Each year we have taken in numerous needy animals and
re-homed many when they are ready.
We accept donations to help these wonderful creatures. Your generosity
and love for animals is greatly appreciated.
For each donation we offer free Vineyard Estate Tour Tickets and
a complimentary signed bottle of one of our signature Tingere
wines.

Planting
Time
Now is the time to plant your vineyard while
the soil is soft from recent rains. Although grapevines can be
planted year round in San Diego County we recommend that you plant
them right now.
We also recommend using our grow tube sleeves for the first year
or two. This will protect the young vines and train them to grow
upwards near the trellis support.

Vineyard
